5 out of 5 stars Cruise Tips That May Save Your Life   February 13, 2008

Just got back from a cruise and wish I had read this book before I went. The cruise industry makes everything look so functional and organized, when really it is just a coverup. The author really exposes the down and dirty of the cruise business and how money overcomes the need for common sense.
If you are planning a cruise this is a must read to not only protect your vacation but to protect you and your families life. I would not go on another cruise without this book in my sea bag.

5 out of 5 stars Must-Have for Anyone Planning a Cruise   February 16, 2008

This is a book that offers a unique yet much-needed take on the cruising industry. Written by a maritime lawyer, the book concisely explains how to protect yourself from the dark side of cruising, including assaults, stalking, scams and the norovirus. It also explains how the cruise industry will not protect you. In fact, many horrible things happen on cruise ships every day, but they get swept under the rug. And for the few that can achieve monetary justice through a lawsuit, a particular law will keep them from seeing all of their money. All in all, Unsafe on the High Seas is a book that needs to be read by anyone wanting to go on a cruise.

5 out of 5 stars Required Reading Before Any Cruise   February 18, 2008

I think this should be required reading before going on any cruise. This book will open your eyes to all kinds of things that can happen on a cruise, from dirty rooms to disappearance at sea. There are a surprising number of crimes, most especially sexual assaults, that frequently happen on cruises that are rarely prosecuted and often covered up.

However, rather than trying to scare people away from taking a cruise, Mr. Lipcon, a maritime lawyer, supplies consumers with all the information they need to protect themselves while cruising.

I'm planning a cruise in the near future, so I'm glad I have this book to help me prepare for our safety on our vacation.

5 out of 5 stars Most concise report I've read   February 12, 2008

As someone who suffers from seasickness just by watching an old episode of The Love Boat, I have never been tempted to go on one, but all three of my older children are planning cruises in the near future. My oldest daughter already has one booked for May. I will not let her get aboard until she and her fiancée read this report. It is the most concise expose I have ever read; full of many facts and common sense tips. As the author, Charles Lipcon says, "Cruises can be fun and a wonderful way to vacation, but everyone should be aware of the dangers." Anyone who is considering taking a cruise needs to read his recommendations for ensuring a safe trip.
