This book is a wonderfully accurate well written guide which jibes nicely with my experiences on the islands. Each island is covered by at least one overall map showing the location of the cities, beaches, major sites, etc.. There are also detailed area maps of the major cities. For every island there is a brief, nicely written, history. There are many "At a glance" tables that rate the islands (on a 5 star scale) for: antiquities, architecture, art and artists, beaches, colonial buildings, crafts, cuisine, culture, dining/restaurants, entertainment, forts, history, monuments, museums, nightlife, scenery, shopping, sightseeing, sports and transportation. Each of these areas are then broken down with the names, phone numbers, and web information for the major businesses, venues, etc.. There is also a lot of information on the prices for the activities. The transportation information is particularly useful with the contact information for things like ferry service. The book is full of ideas about where to shop and what is worth buying (or at least seeing if you are on a window-shopping budget).

If you want to get/carry a single book that covers all the important stuff in the eastern and southern ports, get this one.
